Mobile Work Exchange

What is Mobile Work Exchange?

Mobile Work Exchange, the new Telework Exchange, is a public-private partnership focused on demonstrating the value of mobility and telework, and serving the emerging educational and communication requirements of the Federal mobile/telework community. The organization facilitates communication to more than 33,000 Federal IT directors/managers, CIOs, CHCOs, telework managing officers, and key stakeholders – all focused on building a sustainable and effective mobile workforce. For more information on Mobile Work Exchange, follow us on Twitter, @MobileWorkX. Mobile Work Exchange is a 300Brand organization.

The Mobile Work Exchange community features a series of online capabilities, including:

  • Telework Dividend Calculator: Tallies potential cost savings and environmental benefits associated with telework and provides a mechanism to gauge Federal agencies’ relative telework performance. The calculators empower employees to understand their personal cost of commuting - as a raw figure and a percentage of after-tax income - as well as to understand how many tons of pollutants they are pumping into the environment each day as they travel to and from work. The calculator can be used in tandem with the Online Eligibility Gizmo to present a business case for telework to management
  • Online Eligibility Gizmo: A quiz-based calculator that helps employees cut through the double-speak and ambiguity surrounding their eligibility to telework. The Gizmo can be used in tandem with the Telework Dividend Calculator to present a business case for telework to management
  • Telework Return on Investment Calculator: Calculates an agency’s potential savings in commuting costs, environmental costs, continuity of operations, productivity, recruitment and retention, real estate, and utilities. Use the results to demonstrate your agency’s savings and make the business case for telework and mobility
  • Telework and Mobile IT Resource Centers: Repositories of useful tools for teleworkers and mobile workers, teleworker managers, and information technology professionals. The Resource Centers provide information on business continuity, performance management, cyber security, workers with disabilities, technology, best practices, Federal agency developments, return on investment, and legislative developments in telework
  • Research Studies: A compilation of Mobile Work Exchange conducted research that reports on mobility, savings realized through telework, gas consumption, commuting costs, the value of telework in business continuity, management resistance, and data security issues
  • The Mobile Worker: An online publication reporting exclusively on telework and mobility
